Midwest Teachers Circle

The Midwest Teachers Circle is a collaborative group made up of Bible teachers located in the midwestern United States. We meet virtually on a regular basis to cooperate in our efforts to meet the teaching needs in the church.  

Together we study, write, and teach, leaning on each member of the group in their areas of expertise. This modus operandi is why we call ourselves a circle. We aim toward a gift and specialty based leadership model. 

Each year we host the Midwest Teachers Summit, a one day seminar, that is open to members of the church. Our summit in 2018 was based on a collection of papers we wrote on the topic of women in leadership in the church.  

Michael Burns’ Crossing the Line books and events have had a great impact on the church and have been a valuable source of perspective and inspiration regarding race, culture,  and justice.  

Our teachers are also involved with the Midwest Institute of Ministry, our leadership training program for our region of the world. Jeremy Lefler directs and is the primary architect of the program. We launched the institute as a non profit in 2020, and are now expanding to provide teaching and training more broadly in the church.  We’ve seen God bless all this work in recent years and we’re looking forward to where it goes in the future!
